Goal 7: Affordable & Clean Energy

... encourage the use of solar energy within households in Alberta?
With reports of the province’s carbon emissions comes environmental and policy incentives to reduce emissions. Post-secondary institutions in Alberta are preparing their students to work in new industries in order to diversify the economy and focus on improving the energy sector. The adoption of renewable energy is growing at a rapid rate. Moreover, the development of the solar industry is growing at a rate of over 90% per year.
This growth seems to be reason enough to provide solar power with ample opportunity to have a strong presence in Alberta’s households, buildings and structures. However, that is not the case. There are barriers, including economic challenges, current government policies, and the personal beliefs of many Albertans, that prevent solar energy from being used to its full potential.
