2SLGBTQ+ people face a staggering amount of disproportionate mental and physical health problems when compared to their straight and/or cisgendered peers. These are far-reaching and affect nearly every aspect of the communities’ day to day life. The severity and amount of issues differs depending on how each community member identifies, and the causes can be isolated or expansive. Further compounding this issue, the same cause will have a far greater negative affect depending on someone’s specific identity and whether they belong to more than one minority group. The problem is complex and multifaceted, but it’s important that we understand the things that lead to these disparities and what we can do to mitigate them and help the community through direct action.
