UN GOAL# 10 - reduced inequalities

Colourism has always been prevalent; it is a systemic problem deeply rooted in colonization and slavery and persists as an issue. Colourism is a concern where blackness and brownness continue to be vilified, stigmatized, and misrepresented by people within your community, and most significantly, your family.

A major contributor to this problem is the lack of awareness and acknowledgement of colourism within coloured communities. Depicted in the systems map are the contributing factors that affect a person of colour, which can either educate people or promote a generational cycle that perpetuates the system.

Eradicating colourism is not something that can be done overnight. All it takes to get started is conversation.
