SDG7: Affordable and Clean Energy
Lucas Pisano & Jolene Follgard
Groups got a chance to answer a few questions about their topic and the exhibition.
The global energy transition from oil and gas towards clean energy is a large enough problem that many individuals find themselves overwhelmed into inaction, hopeless, or unsure where to find any information. This means many people’s ideas around the energy transition can end up being reduced to which side they’re on without understanding any of the barriers or opportunities within the transition itself. Some of the key areas of the transition are infrastructure, transportation, manufacturing & production. These areas will require significant research and development into key areas before they can be viable for mass public use. However, there is a lot that is already in place from oil & gas that can be utilized in clean energy. Alberta is already competitively placed to take advantage of the energy transition due to the large cross-over, and people don’t need to be afraid they will be starting from scratch.
