Description

Greenhouse gas emissions are a significant problem in Alberta and are caused by a variety of decisions made by Albertans. The major contributors of emissions include: energy use, transportation and agriculture. Alberta established the Climate Leadership Plan to mitigate emissions and make goals for emission reductions, and Calgary implemented the Climate Action Plan to limit the amount of emissions Calgarians produce.

Solutions to reduce greenhouse gases start with the choices made by individuals. Decisions that lead to a reduced environmental impact include: using public transit instead of driving, only heating your home when you are using it, and eating less meat. The problem of climate change in Alberta may be growing, but there are countless ways to stop the damage from greenhouse gas emissions before it is too late.
